Saint Mary’s School of Sagada welcomed her new students with a dance held at the school auditorium on July 1, 2011, Friday.
171 students, old and new, attended the First School Dance. The First School Dance is a celebration which the school holds so the students will be acquainted with each other.
The gathering started with an assembly at the quadrangle and the induction of the SGO and classroom officers followed by a dinner treated by the school admin and a contribution from each class.
The students entered the auditorium and the program began. It started with an opening song led by the fourth year students followed by the class presentations.
The dances, the most awaited part of the program, came as soon as the performances ended. It started with a party dance and then followed by consecutive sweet dances.
“I and my friends had fun grooving with the music,” said Zyne Baybay, a senior student. “I just wish we had more time for the dances.”
This was Ms. Jana Josue’s last day, too. The students bid her goodbye by dedicating their presentations to her.
Ms. Josue is born and raised in Canada but her parents are Filipinos. She’s taking up Education at the University of British Columbia.
She came to SMS to experience how to be a teacher. She should have gone to Paris, Italy but she chose to come to the Philippines and learn from her Filipino roots.
Her aunt who is a friend of Sir Dennis Faustino, the SMS Headmaster, recommended her.
She handled the Social Studies classes of Sir Leo Carlin, Jr for the first two weeks of classes while he was in the United States for the graduation of his son. Later, she also observed and helped in the same classes and in the classes of Sir Roland Ngalob, another Social Studies teacher. She stayed for more than a month. #
