Naked Identity: Pretending PDF Print E-mail

Everyone is created unique so we have to be more conscious on how to develop the exceptional characteristic that is given to us. Sometimes, we even forget that each and every one of us has his own expertise. Most of the time though, we pretend! We go beyond our limitations to the point of underestimating others. We even lie just to go beyond others, that we are better than them.

We all have this disease and we practice it everyday. Some pretend to get away from trouble, others pretend just to make fun of others. In our school, there are many pretenders. Some are coated with the skin of meekness but in truth, they’re arrogant. Some pretend because they’re ashamed of their true identity. Some pretend to be good and righteous but still the unbearable smell of their nature can’t be fully hidden.

I think this is like a cancer and those who are affected with it are “dying.” As the quote goes, “everyone wears the mask of laughter, kindness and love but underneath their glamour is shed of tears, strong disgust to friends, and heart wrecked of hate. We’re actors and actresses in real life living up the drama to be sure.”This attitude has destroyed countless things. Friends fight against friends, commitments broken and breed more pretenders in the future.

I ask, why? Well, for me I can say that I’m frank, so frank that it pisses off people sometimes, discourage them, make them hate me and brand me as an arrogant idiot in school and yet I accept it, for I think it’s true.

The truth shall set you free. If we hate someone, we’re pissed off with their actions, let’s not pretend we like them. Tell them straight and try to convince them to stop.

The pain in this process is unbearable but it’s a lot better to stop pretending and have your own true identity. # by Tim Forarao
