Sagada overpowered the seven contenders from the different municipalities of Mountain Province in this year’s Elementary Choir Competition.

Sagada is represented by Balugan Elementary School which is also last year’s champion. They perform three songs: Were Have All the Flowers Gone, Salidummay and the contest piece Tear Down the Walls.

Their overwhelming performance favored the judges.

Their coach, Ms. Carmen Guyon, said that it wasn’t easy to organize the choir because she had to implement serious discipline with her pupils. The discipline included monitoring the food of the members. They also had to sacrifice time for practice since they had a lot of household chores.

“We are very very happy!”, said the members during the awarding of the winners of the choir competition.

The choir is aiming for first place in the Regional Competition this time after being defeated by Abra for first place.

Following Sagada is Tadian II then Tadian I for third place.
