HTML, it's not all there is.
There are many different file formats used on the internet today. Text, Rich Text, Office Documents, Open Office Documents among many others. PDF files can be opened by almost any computer. There are many PDF viewers on the market today, most of which are free. Adobe Reader comes installed on most computers but there are others that are smaller and faster. This author likes PDF X-change viewer, which is small and fast. PDF X-change viewer can be downloaded from the following site:

It really doesn't matter which PDF viewer you use, as long as you have one installed on your computer. and you can download and read PDF files. Some viewers have the ability to install the viewer inside of your browser, others don't. It doesn't matter. If you have a viewer installed in your browser the file will be downloaded to a new tab. If you don't have the viewer installed in your browser the system will ask you to download the file and open in what ever viewer you're using.
The text editor that comes with out current system is not the best around. For instance it does not allow the use of tables as other advanced editors do. To get around this limitation we use PDF files which can be downloaded and displayed on your computer. For instance, viewing financial articles usually involves the use of Microsoft Excel to generate the file. We can convert the file to a PDF file keeping all the formatting in place, which our text editor won't do, so you can see the format as it's intended to be viewed.
Yea for PDF files and Yea for us to find a way to bring them to you as a user of our system.
