Basketball is not only a game; it’s a sport that motivates us to build our character with teamwork, pride, and sportsmanship. Three points, two points and one point; no matter what point, it’s all counted in the game.

Here in school extracurricular activities are important. I am one of the members of the basketball team and I would like to encourage students to join our team. In joining us they will be able to nourish their skills in playing basketball. Our team joined the Provincial Meet last school year and even though we did not win, it was a great experience for everyone. We made a lot of new friends in Bontoc. We had a standing of 4-0 during the District Meet making us the undefeated team in Sagada.

We are amateur players and we are not different from other people. We dream to do the impossible, like joining the NBA. Even though we are amateurs, we have our own special abilities like shooting long shots, impossible shots, and creative shots; in short it’s a matter of shooting.

Joining our team is like joining a brotherhood because the loss of one is the loss of everyone. Join this team and you will develop positive attitudes especially respect. We need respect in this team because we don’t want to end up punching each other’s face. In relation to respect, sportsmanship comes in. Even if you’re not good in the game but you carry the spirit of the game; that proves you to be a great player because what we are in the court is who we are outside.

Basketball, for me, is my life. I know I will not have the dunking skills of Michael Jordan the incredible three points shoots of Ray Allen, and the dribbling skill of Hot Sauce but I enjoy playing every minute, second and quarters of the game believing that in playing basketball, I can be somebody.

We have an awesome coach, Sir Daniel Ambasing, great players and a court to play on. Now, you already know the feeling to be one of us; the excitement, the fear and the passion. I hope you consider joining the Blue Flames Basketball. Together, we will make a great team! # by Hamid Guialab
